It has been a busy month for Wildcard’s Counter-Strike 2 team, from friendly showmatches to premiere North American tournaments, there’s a little bit of everything for Counter-Strike fans. To help you stay up-to-date on the happenings of the team here’s a breakdown of past, present, and future matches you should know about.
Recently Completed:
Skinrave NRG Showmatch
In case you missed it, Wildcard teamed up with our partner Skinrave to host a friendly showmatch with NRG earlier this month. Lately, it seems like NRG has been Wildcard’s biggest North American rival, so friendly showmatch or not, there was always going to be a little of a competitive edge to the match. Even though both teams walked away with a participation trophy, Wildcard put together some fun rounds of Counter-Strike alongside Skinrave with fans winning some giveaways too.
CCT Season 3
Speaking of North American rivalries, Wildcard stormed through the CCT Season 3 Series #1 tournament playoffs two weeks ago. As a direct invite to the playoffs, Wildcard got to skip group stage matches and instead focus on making it to the grand finals.
In the quarterfinals, Wildcard went up against Chicken Coop Esports in a best-of-3 with the winner moving on to face M80. The series was nothing short of dominant for Wildcard, with the team putting up 13-2 and 13-7 victories on Nuke and Train respectively. This momentum carried over into the semifinals where Wildcard faced a red-hot M80 team. But it didn’t seem to matter, as Wildcard dismantled M80 across Overpass and Dust II, winning both maps by a final score of 13-9.
With the victory, Wildcard met NRG in the grand finals. To open up the series, Wildcard took 11 rounds off NRG on Nuke but ultimately lost 13-11. In a do-or-die situation, Wildcard forced overtime on Train but ultimately slipped 16-12. With the defeat, Wildcard finished 2nd in the CCT Season 3 North American Series #1. Wildcard will have another shot at redemption next month when Series #2 begins as detailed below.
NA Revival #8
Wildcard also competed in the NA Revival Series #8 tournament two weeks ago. It was a short-lived tournament for the team after losing in the quarterfinals to Getting Info by final scores of 13-11 and 13-7 across Ancient and Nuke. This isn’t the last of Wildcard in this tournament series though, with another shot at gold later next month.
Ongoing
Eagle Masters
Want to watch Wildcard compete? The team is currently active in the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3. In the group stage earlier this month, Wildcard went flawless without dropping a single map. The team racked up 2-0 victories against TSG, BOSS, and Get Info to qualify for the playoffs.
On August 28th at 6 pm EST, Wildcard will face ASPYRE in a best-of-3 with the winner moving on to the semifinals. Be sure to follow Wildcard’s socials for live updates on the team all tournament long.
